faq’s

  • The (IR) Studio at YogaSix Wilmington is located inside of YogaSix Wilmington in the Mayfaire Community Center area — next to Harris Teeter. It is a private studio, spacious enough for up to two persons per session. Expect no crowds, no waiting. Walk in and access the Studio yourself once your session starts.

  • A standard session is 35 minutes, with a 5 minute “padding” before the next session begins. This allows you to utilize your 35 minutes, and then prepare to exit before the next person enters.

  • Each session grants access to the entire space, including: infrared sauna, cold plunge, red light therapy, and towels.

  • Nope! The (IR) Studio is open to the public. But given the convenience, we do encourage you to get your body moving with YogaSix and then enjoy our amenities. Members receive additional discounts.

  • The ideal flow is to start with sauna, then do cold plunge, then finish with red light. But, listen to your body.

  • For a standard 35 minute session, it is common to do up to 25 minutes sauna, 2-3 minute plunge, up to 5 minute red light. But, please use the time based on your preference and your body’s signals.

  • The sauna will be set to 170-175F at all times per the manufacturer’s (Clearlight) guidelines on best use. But, the actual temperature will vary based on frequency of the sauna door being opened and other factors. The target temperature for infrared sauna is 120-150F.

  • We recommend using the provided, small towel to dry brush your skin for the first 5 minutes of your session. You want to apply firm pressure when doing so. This will increase blood flow, open pores, and increase lymphatic flow for a (generally) quicker onset of sweat. For experienced sauna users and wellness enthusiasts, research using Niacin pre-sauna and broad spectrum binders intra or post sauna to push and catch toxins for release.

  • The cold plunge will be set to ~54F. It will likely fluctuate ± a few degrees throughout a day.

  • The chiller unit runs continuously & daily with a built in 3-stage filtration system (including Ozone filtration to kill bacteria, viruses and other pathogens). Always towel off body sweat and debris before entering the plunge. The water will be drained and refilled based on booking frequency, but at least weekly.

  • Given (IR) Studio is self-service and may not always have dedicated staff onsite, we ask that customers take care of the space as you would your own. This means putting towels down in the sauna, keeping water drippings within the “wet space” as much as possible when exiting the cold plunge, drying off before walking around the space, and putting dirty towels in the designated bin once finished.

  • The (IR) team will clean the space daily, but not between sessions. This is why we ask customers to please clean up after themselves and respect the space, so it is left in good condition for the next guest.

  • If you are feeling unwell at any point, please exit the sauna, plunge and red light areas. There are “CALL” help buttons located in the Studio that will signal the YogaSix staff for help. If it is a true emergency, please call 911.
